For over a decade, Yacht Care Systems has delivered dependable, first-class yacht care and preventative maintenance services.
We’re here to serve you and make your boating experience as enjoyable as possible.
YCS’ Monthly Preventative Maintenance Survey is a critical and essential component of our preventative maintenance offering. Although every boat is different and will have different maintenance requirements, YCS has developed a monthly preventative maintenance survey that ensures your vessel’s core systems and functions are working appropriately. Our highly skilled marine technicians perform a detailed monthly survey to ensure your vessel and its many systems are operating to the manufacturers specifications.
Upon completion of the monthly preventative maintenance survey, our team will furnish you with a list of items that require further attention or repair. YCS will advise you of the work required and provide you with a cost and time estimate and will only complete this work with your consent.
At the completion of the cruising season, typically in October, your yacht will be winterized by a YCS technician. Your winterization schedule will be dependent upon your intended usage during the off-season. Winterizing the engine is about protecting it from corrosion and damage from cold temperatures, rising humidity levels and the salty coastal air. Engines like to be used and not to be left in damp, cold environments for months on end.
Pro Tip: the off-season is the best time to complete any special projects for your vessel.
As spring approaches, YCS will be preparing your vessel for the cruising season and we will reach out to you to schedule your preseason recommissioning service. YCS will conduct a recommissioning checklist for your vessel and conduct a sea trial to ensure your vessel is in peak performance ahead of your busiest boating months.
This is an optional service YCS provides to owners with high-usage in the summer months with short returns to the dock in Vancouver. YCS will curate an abridged preventative maintenance survey to ensure all systems are in good operating fashion and fluid levels are appropriate.
Bright, shiny, and well-maintained boats retain their value. Boats that do not receive regular aesthetic maintenance are subject to all of the forces and atmospheric contaminants of the Pacific Northwest.
The purpose of washing boats outside of the regular cruising season is to preserve as much of the integrity of the vessels original or refitted aesthetics as possible. Regular washes extended the lifespan and resale value of the vessel. As the old adage goes, “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”.
Most boat owners ask, “With all the rain we get in Vancouver, should my boat not stay relatively clean?” The answer is no! Rain actually helps deliver a large amount of contaminates and pollutants that damage many of the exterior finishes of your boat. Leaving these materials on the surface of your boat degrade its appearance and may cause other damage.
As part of our preventative maintenance program, we continue to remove damaging salt and environmental contaminants once a month during off-season. During the cruising season, twice a month is ideal.
Paint & gelcoat act as a moisture barrier and protects the underlying layers of fibreglass and composite materials that make up the hull of your boat. Cleaning, polishing and waxing is the most effective solution for protecting your boat’s paint and gelcoat. Polishing removes the oxidation and restores the colour and lustre, which no amount of washing can do. The waxing process then adds a layer of protective wax over the top which will slow down further fading and prevent hazing from happening.
Our exterior detailing and waxing solution ensures that your boat’s paint, gelcoat, and other materials are protected from the harsh Pacific Northwest environment.
We have a large 33-year old vessel in our fleet that is washed and waxed regularly and she still looks like a new boat!
Being constantly at salt or seawater takes a toll on the interiors of most yachts. The salty sea air alone dulls the interiors. High usage of your yacht also tends to lead to wear and tear of your interiors. Either way, yacht interiors need just as much attention as yacht systems and engines.
Regularly employing yacht interior cleaning services ensures that your boat is always presentable and in top form. You don’t have to worry about mold, mildew, or that camped up smell inside unkempt boats if you keep your boat interiors clean.
Interior detailing during the cruising season minimizes the time you spend on arduous tasks and maximizes your enjoyment aboard. At the end of the cruising season, it is particularly important so mold and mildew are prevented.

There are major differences between, maintaining, repairing and refitting a boat. Maintain, is keeping something in good condition. Repair, to restore something that is damaged, faulty or worn back to good condition. Refit, to replace or repair machinery, equipment and fittings.
Almost every part or piece of equipment on a boat either wears out or breaks and will need to be replaced. Scheduling repairs in advance is the most cost-effective way to reduce your overall spend and maximize uptime.
Emergency boat repairs have a way of showing up when you least expect them, and they can be frustrating if you don’t know what they are. Our team of technicians are here to assist in prioritizing repairs and working with third-party providers to ensure a seamless customer experience for you.
Boating technology is constantly evolving and there are always new products that can help keep your yacht up-to-date with the latest innovations. Custom projects and refits require a carefully planned project timeline, scope of work and a realistic budget and experienced project management. YCS is pleased to work with you to keep your systems current and to provide custom projects to see your vision come to life. At your next rendezvous you’ll be pleased to display to your guests the upgrades to your vessel.
